Thanks to Valley View Hunt Club

Thanks to Valley View Hunt Club,

For putting on a quality gun dog championship. Everyone from TBDC had a great day of trialing and touching base with old friends that we only get to see once a year. Congratulations to Bill Lack and Red for being top dog in Saturdays trial and also to Austin Graham with Stubby for being in the top three. Gary Billen with Sonny was also called back to run on Sundays run off for top dog award. Next years championship will be held at Webster county bird dog club. Like I said in the last covey rise, it is what we compete for at our club, the chance to go to the championship. Just ask anyone of us that went, and we will say we are looking forward to next years grand trail event. Thanks again VVHC it was all top notch.
By the time you receive this covey rise we will be well on our way with the spring trial season, having had two already with one more to go on the 29th of March. I have been noticing the clubs “next generation” has been stepping it up a notch with some pups and dogs in the last few trials. I myself am proud to see that we have created a strong interest in the younger members, because they will be the ones that will be taking the sport into the future. They to will have to “pass it on” so to speak, some day. I like to think that what I was taught being in the club, I have taken the time to help improve those that are still learning and that they too will help the next member do the same. We have a fun hunt coming up, invite a friend to come join in the fun.
As March comes and goes and April being the month we start clay shoots be thinking about what Sundays you can be in charge of. We will be signing up for those Sunday dates at the next meeting, March 25
th. All of April and two weeks in May have already been spoken for, Duane Boyton, Bobby Free, and Me.
Just a little reminder: nominations for officers are in April, be thinking of who you would like as an officer. Elections then will be held in May.
See all of you at the next club meeting March 25, 2008 at the library.

As winter becomes spring and the weather starts to warm, remember that it is time to cut back on the high protein dog foods. Protein produces energy and HAIR!! So, if you don’t cut back you stand the chance the protein will cause more oils in the dogs hair follicles and then boils or as the doc calls them HOT SPOTS. Give them plenty of fresh water and a good quality maintenance blend dog food. There should be one in the brand you are feeding now.
