April 2009
The
weekend selected for the last trial was a big
surprise when a BLUE NORTHER came in with 2 inches of
rain and dumped 6 inches of snow the day of the
trial. We pushed it to the next weekend when Mother
Nature decides to dry the moisture from the weekend
before with high winds. Not just a slight breeze but
35 mile per hour sustained hurricane force winds.
Then as soon as the trial was finished, it stopped.
Go figure!!
The next day Sunday was to be the first day of our
Sunday clay shoots. Yeah Right!! It turned very cold
with a north wind of about 25 miles per hour and we
were all there wrapped up like professional Eskimo
skeet shooters trying to get in some practice. We
tried until we all looked at each other through
watery eyes and runny noses and decided that enough
was enough!!!
With the three spring trials finished now and looking
at the standings we have some pretty tuff competition
to overcome this coming fall. Good luck everyone.
Like I said, the Sunday shoots have started and we
welcome guests to come on out and shoot with us.
Don’t worry about how good you are, none of us can
shoot either. Hope to see you out there.
A big thank you needs to go out to Doug Huchabee for
being so kind to have delivered the pallets of clays
to us from Joplin. A big thank you also goes to Rob
Kimery for allowing us to store those clays in his
warehouse. It truly is a big savings and help to the
club.
The monthly meeting will be April
28th
at the
library. This month will be nominations for next
year’s officers. Please try to attend this meeting
and help in nominating your clubs officers.
Roy has just informed me that he has reserved the
same picnic area at Mohawk Park that we had last
year. If you have never been to one of the club
picnics, you really should try to make the time to
attend. The food is superb, and Roy (Tiger Woods)
will be there to show us once again his golfing
expertise, along with horse shoe throwing sensation
Charlie Hess. Watch for the date in this covey rise.
See Ya There !!
It is turning into summer in a hurry. Remember to
give your dogs fresh water every day, even twice is
not too often. Dump out and refill, mosquito eggs
hatch in that warm water. Dogs then drink it and it
will give them heart worms.
